CLG BnaG v St Eunans

Moyle Park, Sunday @ 3pm

Match Sponsor – Mulroy Music

Sunday will be a proud day for the Club as Moyle Park hosts its first ever Division 1 clash, and what a club to welcome in St Eunans. Na Galloglaigh had a fantastic win over Bundoran at the weekend but the Letterkenny kingpins will be a different story. All support for this huge and historic game would be greatly appreciated this Sunday at 3pm. Our Reserves also had a great win at the weekend and they will play St Eunans Reserves onSunday also at 1.30pm. Thanks to Patrick McBride and everyone at Mulroy Music for sponsoring both Senior and Reserve matches.

*Division 1 Seniors*

Realt na Mara 1-11 CLG BnaG 4-11

Na Galloglaigh got life in Division 1 off to a perfect start on Sunday with a good performance as well as a good win in Bundoran. It was the Clubs first ever match at these lofty heights but they managed to hold their own against everything Bundoran threw at them in the first 15 minutes. Shortly before the 20th minute however, when leading two points to one, Na Galloglaigh invited trouble from a short kick out, and although both Caolan Mc Gettigan and the Bundoran forward both seemed to slide in for the ball, the referee awarded the home side a penalty for a slide tackle. Thankfully it took less than five minutes for the boys to react when a break from deep saw Gary Merritt link up with Kane Barrett with Merritt finally hitting the back of the net from close range. This left the half time score 1-4 to 1-5 to Na Galloglaigh who would be playing with a not insignificant breeze in the second half. But it was the home side who came out strong at the start of the second half but the defence managed to limit them to just 1 point in the first ten minutes, while at the same time Gary Merritt got his second goal at the other end. Bundoran didn't lie down and made Na Galloglaigh work right til the end and in the final ten minutes Kyle Black and Joey Cullen added further goals to get the win. Whilst they deserved the win the scoreline possibly flatters Na Galloglaigh somewhat, and there are still lessons to be learned ahead of next weeks game. Next Sunday is a big one with Na Galloglaigh welcoming St Eunans to Moyle Park in a game sponsored by Mulroy Music. Team: Caolan McGettigan, Tj Evesson, Barry McNulty, Conor McNulty, Tony Mcnamee, Paddy Peoples, Jonny Logue, Joey Cullen (1-0), Luke Barrett (0-4), Cathal Mc Gettigan (0-2), Pauric Curley (0-1), Gary Merritt (2-0), Christopher Barrett, Kane Barrett (0-1), Kyle Black (1-1). Subs: Darragh Black (0-2) for Curley (HT), Gavin Grier for Logue (45m), Sean Black for C. Barrett (50m), Kieran Sheridan for McNamee (55m), Dean Burgess, Cormac Friel, Enda McHugh, Caolan Bolton, James Doyle, Martin Doyle, Matthew Stewart

*Division 1 Reserves*

Realt Na Mara 0-10 CLG BnaG 4-9

The Reserves got off to a winning start against Bundoran in their debut game in Div1 Reserve. The foundations for the win were laid in the 1st half when despite playing against a stiff breeze the lads put together some great passages of play to work good scores. Midway through the half, Marty Doyle was pulled down as he rounded the keeper & Dean Burgess stepped up to slot the resulting penalty into the bottom corner of net. This goal was the difference between the sides at half time as Na Galloglaigh led 1-4 to 0-4. Na Galloglaigh raced out of blocks at the start of 2nd half with an Andreas Afxentiou goal within a minute of throw-in. Further points were added by Ciaran McHugh to give the visitors a comfortable lead. Bundoran did come back into the game after that and hit 4 unanswered points to reduce the deficit back to 4 points. But Ciaran Mc Hugh then added to his tally with a goal and a Marty Doyle goal in the last few minutes of the game ensured Na Galloglaigh ran out convincing winners in the end with a good all-round team performance.

Team: Shaun Gallagher, Matthew Stewart, Paul Grier, Tony Mc Gettigan, Brandon Toye, Enda McHugh, Cormac Friel (0-1), Caolan Bolton (0-1), Paddy McCarron, Dean Burgess (1-0), Ciaran McHugh (1-3), Ryan Ferry (0-1), Andreas Afxentiou (1-1), Marty Doyle (1-1), James Doyle (0-1).
